On its South Korean community channel, Samsung has announced that it will be expanding the availability of its Expert RAW camera app. Starting on February 25, Expert RAW will become available for more devices, which is currently accessible on the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy Note 20 series, along with the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G. However, expanded Expert RAW availability will vary by region.

Presumably, Samsung will bring the camera app to more devices in its home market than elsewhere. Hopefully, Samsung unifies Expert RAW globally too; many features and bug fixes remain locked to the app’s South Korean version. You could attempt to install the South Korean version of the Expert RAW app though, as we suggested when Samsung released it to the Galaxy S21 Ultra in its home market.

Unfortunately, Samsung emphasises that it will continue to restrict Expert RAW to its flagship smartphones, excluding mid-range handsets like the Galaxy A series. For reference, the app allows you to save images in 16-bit DNG and contains profiles for various cameras for editing a photo on desktop image editing software. Expert RAW supports full manual controls as well, among other features. The Expert RAW app is downloadable from the Galaxy Store, not Google Play Store.
