Samsung is planning to manufacture components enough to produce 30 million units of its Galaxy S22 series of smartphones which will be unveiled on Wednesday this week, TheElec has learned.

This is 20% higher than the initial components it manufactured for the Galaxy S21 series last year.

The component amount won’t translate directly to the number of finished products.

Samsung is aiming to ship late-20 million units of the Galaxy S22 series, the components will be enough for this, sources said.

The tech giant is planning to manufacture components for 12 million units of the standard 6.1-inch standard Galaxy S22; 8 million units of the 6.6-inch Galaxy S22 Plus; and 10 million units of the 6.8-inch Galaxy S22 Ultra.

In September last year, during the planning stages of the Galaxy S22 series, Samsung has planned to first manufacture components enough to produce early-20 million units.

But the company recently increased its shipment goal as it expects the global smartphone market to recover its growth rate in 2022 compared to last year, sources said.

Samsung is also expecting the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which will house a stylus like the Galaxy Note series, will be popular with consumers, they added.

Still, the late-20 million units shipment goal is less than Samsung’s annual shipment flagship phones up to 2019, which always exceeded 30 million units.

The tech giant’s component suppliers had been manufacturing and delivering components for the Galaxy S22 series since November.
