In the interview, POCO Global Head Kevin Qiu said We always think smartphone plus IoT is a key strategy for us.” Meanwhile, the brand’s Head of Product Marketing, Angus NG stated “Coming out with ecosystem products, I think we still need to stay close to our brand philosophy and product philosophy. So we need to somehow play it more on the safer end, to begin with.” This hints that POCO might actually start with small ecosystem products like audio devices, fitness trackers/smartwatches, and power banks.

Angus also revealed that POCO doesn’t have any plans to enter the Android tablet segment although it has been gaining traction due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the executive, it is crowded and makes it difficult for the brand to enter the market.

The interview with the two POCO executives also adds that the company is planning to differentiate itself from Xiaomi and Redmi in terms of software. The brand’s Global Head, Qui said that POCO smartphones run MIUI with a POCO launcher on the top. However, it is looking to add more exclusive features and customisations.
